Update on life

Hello there everyone!
It has been almost a year...

I have no excuse for my absence except the fact that life happened and I just lost track time for some things.
I don't want to ramble around with my excuses for neglecting the blog, so lets just to straight to the point!
I am back and plan to post at least once a week!

I am still in Holland doing my second year of University and excited about things.
Autumn has been shy and it feels like whenever he get a taste of cold crisp air or fresh rain drops, summers gets jealous and takes over the next days.

And I feel like I have been like that as well. Dozing in and out of my mind, feeling ready for adult life, or just wanting to run away from everything and curl up in a ball.
I must admit I really do not feel ready to leave my teens years behind, I lived so much during them, changed so much, and I am afraid that in my 20's if I change as often as I did as teen I will not be taken seriously.

Anyway, whether I want it or not life happens, things grow, change and evolve and the best to be prepared for it is just like being prepared for the bipolar weather dutch people have been living: always carry and umbrella and a warm jacket for the sake of it.
I hope everyone else has been enjoyed the first months of school

I'll keep posting

Lots of love and hugs
Deanna

Pastel for Spring

March has arrived and the sun has been out!

It is such a lovely feeling when a new month starts and you can finally feel winter fading away and the first sunny days of the year arriving! I have been waiting anxiously for them and have done some secret shopping to celebrate them! And today’s post is all about them items!

I want to share some statement pieces I plan on wearing this spring, although the weather is still chilly I am so excited to show them to you and maybe inspire you for some spring shopping as well!

Hands and nails
I have been stacking up on nail polish like a crazy person during the winter sales. Because I have stopped biting my nails I really need to pamper them and reward myself every time I week goes by without my biting them, I’m kind of like a dog ahahha. Anyway these are the 4 go to colors I chose for this spring; they are pastel and are on the blue and pink side, I don’t really like oranges and greens for spring. In my recent collection I have a pinkish nude from elf, a pink macaroon from h&m and two colors from Hema, one is a baby blue and the other one is a brownish nude.
I did some swaps on paper so you can have a better feel for these colors!

In addition I also purchased a rose ring form Accessorize that has a pink color to it and goes so well with the spring colors, and has a casual but also formal tone to it!

Clothes
My birthday was February 14th and I had to go to Portugal to take care of some personal issues, so I was able to see my family and celebrate my birthday with them. As a gift my mom got me a pastel pink REAL leather bag! Its gorgeous and I love it already. It has 3 different straps but my favorite is the braided one which you can see in the picture.

I also got a nude cardigan from Blanco along with a very short and thin crop top from Bershka with the back cut out, which conjugated and the pieces together look so good. It was a bit cold for me to pull off these two pieces, but when the weather warms up I’ll do my first photo shot with some of my favorite spring clothes!

The back of the crop top is AMEHZING

I hope you have a great spring, and be sure to share with me some of your favorite spring purchases!

Lots of love and hugs

February Favorites!

Hello there everyone!

I know I have been MIA for a while but school has been crazy and I also have been taking care of some personal issues as well.

Nonetheless another month has gone by and it’s time for favorites! I know it was also my last post but bear with me during these first couple of months!

Hair care
For hair this month I have nothing favorite just my routine products.

Makeup
I have been in love with BB creme! I have never tried it and I found this one at this Dutch store and decided to give it a go. It is so light and easy on the skin and it doesn't look pasty or greasy, I love it! Plus it has spf to protect my face from the winter sun.

As for lips my collection keeps growing! I never had the baby lips products from Maybelline ( I don’t even know why, I love lip balms) and purchased the peach and hydrating ones. They don’t really have color but are very moisturizing.

I also purchased a lip liner, something that I also never had but now I am in love with it! I don’t use it every day because it is red, however I have used for parties and dinners and it helps the color on the lips last longer and when I clean my month my napkin didn't have red lipstick on it, so that is a plus.

Face masks are now my best friend as well as face cleansers. Because I have been using makeup more often I have noticed that my skin needs to be taken care of more often. So once a week I do a face mask and relax for 15 minutes and every night after I take a shower or during my shower I use a face cleanser that does a great job removing all of the makeup and pollution in my face, and so far I have noticed I have less spots and my skin is smoother and cleaner.

Other stuff
Something a bit odd that I got this month are these little brushes that I use in between my teeth, because they are very narrow I can’t floss them that well so I got these 0.6 mm brushes that have been doing the job very well!

There you have my February Favorites, it was also the month of love and I hope you enjoyed it very much!

Have a great March
Lots of love and hugs

#ALLBLOGGERSGREATANDSMALL

II was tagged by the two lovely girls from Tartan Fairytales to do this tag, and since I had some time I decided to go for it!

1.     What makes you want to blog?
I have been wanting to blog for a very long time, and since I started my first University year I decided to start doing things I really wanted to do. So one day I picked up my laptop and wrote my first post on my blog. Since then I have discovered a great topic I enjoyed writing about which is beauty products, and have been very interested in that world ever since. Also sharing bits and pieces of my life in this community makes me feel included and inspired.
I have been loving it ever since and now everything I see in my life inspire to blog and write something.

2.     Your Morning skin routine?
I wake up and brush my teeth and wash my face. Then I use my face cleanser from Clean and Clear and moisturize with my Barral face cream. And I never forget to put lip balm on my very dry lips!

3.     Your favorite blogger?
I have so many but my top two are zoella   and emily's beauty and babble

4.     A beauty product you couldn’t live without?
Fit my powder foundation by Maybelline
5.     Your favorite make-up brand (drugstore)?
Any type of drug store brand that sells lip balm and rimmel for mascaras!

6.     Your favorite make-up brand (High-end)?
I am not sure if MAC is considered high end, and also clinic, I just love their products and they are so easy on the skin!

7.     What is your staple wardrobe item?
My black fake leather jacket from H&M and my black ankle botties from Zara.
Also anything black is a staple item for me :)

I tag

Hope you enjoyed!
Lots of love and hugs

January favorites, on a budget!

So the first month of 2014 has gone by so fast! I can’t believe it! It also means that I have the chance to start the first of many favorites post.

Although I am a little late I managed to put together some of my favorite products I have been using this month.

Hair Care
I have been using the Garnier wonderful oil, that was a Christmas present, and it does wonders to my dry ombre tips. I use it before I use heat on my hair or when I let it air dry I apply a little to my wet tips.

 Makeup

In what concerns makeup I decided to try a make-up base from a Dutch store called Hema. The store is just like Target, but everything is in Dutch haha. The base works as a primer for your face and it has a translucent color so every skin tone works with it. It smooth’s out the skin and keeps hydrated as well. I am not a huge fan on liquid foundation and this base is very light and easy on my skin, so it works as a great substitute.

My elf Jumbo Eye shadow stick has also done wonders to my tired eyes. I like to apply this in my inner corner of my eyes and my brow bone and it just gives my eyes a more awake look. I tend to use this peachy color rather than white just because it gives a more natural look to it.

And of course my lip balms have been with me this month. I have been using the Born Lippy from the Body Shop, along with the Labello soft rose, just because the weather has been very dry and cold I my lips are simple suffering a lot from it.

Nail Care
For my nails I have purchased some nail polish wipes also from Hema. They don’t have acetone so they are not as aggressive on my nails and my fingers ( I am a nail and skin bitter and the acetone is really harsh on my fragile nails and my cut fingers), and it removes the polish quite easily and keeps the nails strong and healthy.

I also got a 4 way nail filler to file and take better care of my nails. I didn't know how well this type of filler worked, but now that I have been using I love it, and it keeps my nails strong with a natural shine. And it also facilitates my work when filling, keeping my nails even and not letting them break as easily!

I hope your January went well and that you enjoy this new month
Lots of love and hugs

Lip Balm mania

Lip balm is always a girls must have, they are the perfect little makeup addition for anytime of the year, whether it’s hot or cold, lip balms are always great.

If you are like me and have really dry skin and experience really cold winters and really hot summers, then you understand me when I say you can never have enough lip balms. They are simply my go to item and most of the time I use them instead of lipstick.

So I decided to write a little review on my favorite lip balms.

First off before I used any lip balms I would always have a tin of Vaseline with me, but it always seemed very not glamorous on me and it would just spread to the rest of my face and seem like I just finished eating really greasy bacon or a plate of oily fries, so sexy…

So I decided to invest in a very good and long lasting lip balm, and the “dr organic” one was the perfect choice. It is a clear and scented lip balm, but it doesn't burn as I thought it would on my super dry lips. I just put it on anytime of the day, for casual days, for formal events, it just seems like a great must have. The price is about 7 euros and I purchased mine in a local pharmacy in Portugal.

Moving on to the more “glamorous” lip balms, for Christmas I got two more lip balms, and they are simple the best. The first one was from The Body Shop and it has a reddish tone to it, so I wear it with a simple eye look so my lips can pop. It has pomegranate extract and is very southing to the lips.~
The Body Shop "Born Lippy" pomegranate lip Balm

The second one I got is from Labello and the shade is soft rose, and on the lips it’s a very faded sheer pink I usually enjoy wearing with darker eyes.

In the summer I always have my Labello sun protector lip balm, that leaves my lips white, but I can pull it off with a tan!
All of my winter lip balms!

Please let me know what are your favorite lip balms and colors!

Hope you are enjoying the first month of the year!

Lots of love and hugs

What I got for Christmas

Hello lovely person who is Reading this!

As promised this post is dedicate to some of my favorite Christmas gifts!
I know I am a bit late, but I have been busy with exams and school and flying back to Holland, that I wasn’t able to find some time write for the blog but here it is.

I didn’t want to show all of my presents, because I feel like that could be a little much and I only wanted to write about those who actually meant a lot to me.
My gifts!

To start I got a pair of boots from Zara which were on my wish list, and I got them from me to me. A little silly but I was in the city center and I found them and they were the last pair that almost fit me so I decided to treat myself with those.

I also got a beautiful scarf from my Mom which really knows my taste really well. It is a handmade Portuguese scarf with brown and orange detailing and it’s so warm and it’s great for a dressy outfit but also very casual and cozy. Also from my mom she got me two lip balms which I desperately needed, because the weather in Holland is so cold my skin can’t bear it. I got one from The Body Shop which is pomegranate and is a subtle red, perfect for an extra color on your lips but not extravagant. The other lip balm was from Lobello and it’s a sheer pink very sweet and cute.

My sister got me an owl pillow and candle holder which are adorable and look so great in my room, they add personality and color and I love owls so much and it made me really happy to get those two gifts.

My dad got me a beautiful black pearl bracelet and a black stone necklace which is beautiful and made me feel like daddy little’s girl so much. I was truly surprised to get something like that and I felt so sassy to get it.

A detailed picture of the black stone necklace
My mom and sister also got me a perfume from The Body Shop as well which smells like pink grapefruit, very fresh and gives me a little scent of Spring! They also got me a beautiful sweater from Bershka which has a back bow with a sheer white shirt in the back, truly classy and beautiful.

And lastly my best friend got me a cat pen which I have been using to do my University exams, but I don’t care because it’s awesome.

But I have to say the best gift was to be back home with my family and friends and cats, and feel loved and warm again

A disclaimer: this post is not intended in any way to show off or brag about what I got or how materialistic I am. It is a post to show some my favorite gifts my friends and family got for me which made me feel even more loved and happy.

Lots of love and hugs
